How to remember when you last got a haircut

You notice you need a haircut, but cannot remember whether the last one was four weeks ago or eight. Keeping the appointment date makes that question easy to answer. Saving a few details also helps when you want the same cut again.

A haircut log can be as small as one event with a date and a note. It does not need a daily check-in or a fixed appointment schedule.

Find the first date you can trust

An old booking confirmation, calendar entry or receipt can give you a starting date. Check that the appointment actually happened on that day, particularly if you rescheduled it.

If you cannot find the date, start after your next haircut. A reliable record of the next visit is more useful than an exact-looking guess about the previous one.

To check how long ago a known date was, enter it in the days-since calculator. If you want that count to stay available on your phone, create a “Haircut” event in Last Time and set the same date.

Keep the details you would ask for again

The date tells you when. The note can tell you what to repeat or change. Here is a simple way to structure it:

Detail Example
Where Salon or barber name
Who The person who cut your hair
What you requested The length or style you discussed
What to repeat Keep the same length on top
What to change Leave the fringe a little longer next time

Use the wording you and your barber or stylist understand. If they tell you the clipper setting or another useful detail, record it while it is fresh.

Add a new entry after each haircut

In Last Time, mark the event done after the appointment. The counter restarts from that date and the previous dates remain in the history. Add your note to the new entry so it stays associated with the right visit.

Keep different appointments separate when their dates matter independently. For example, you might want one event for a haircut and another for a colour appointment. Resetting one should not imply that both happened.

Use your history when deciding whether to book

Once you have several entries, you can look at the gaps between visits. That gives you a record of your own routine. It does not require you to choose an ideal interval in advance.

If the cut still feels right, the number is simply information. If you are ready to book, your recent notes are there to check before you call. Put the future booking in your calendar, and leave the haircut counter at the last completed visit until the new one happens.
